Brutalist Bronze Five-Arm Candleholder, Attributed to Horst Dalbeck, Germany, 1960s–70s

€165,00 EUR
Product Information

The piece is formed as a single branching structure, with five flared candle holders rising from a central spine. The dark textured surface, visible casting marks, and deep patina emphasise the raw, exposed quality of the bronze and give the object a strong sculptural presence.

Its tree-like silhouette and heavy cast form place it within the language of German Brutalist metalwork, where domestic objects often sat close to sculpture.

Context

Horst Dalbeck is associated with sculptural cast metalwork produced in Germany during the 1960s and 1970s. Comparable vintage listings commonly describe his candleholders as solid bronze Brutalist pieces with organic, tree-like forms, flared holders, and textured cast surfaces.

Candleholders of this type reflect the period’s interest in raw material expression, cast texture, weight, and organic geometry. The current Dalbeck foundry also describes its work as hand-cast production in brass, bronze, and aluminium, made in Germany.
