Japanese Takaoka Cast Copper Vase, Signed Shinpō, Showa c. 1960s–80s
Product Information
Japanese Takaoka cast copper-alloy vase, signed Shinpō (真峰作) on the original wooden storage box, Japan, Shōwa period, c. 1960s-80s. The box is also inscribed 鋳銅花瓶, meaning cast copper-alloy flower vase.
The vase has an elongated ovoid body, narrow circular mouth, raised foot, and dark reddish-brown patinated surface. Diamond-shaped openwork appears near the upper body and repeats around the base, giving the piece a clear geometric rhythm.
Its strength is in the contrast between volume and void: a full vessel body lifted above a pierced foot. The piece can be used as a flower vase or displayed as a Japanese metalwork object.
