Product Information
Japanese Takaoka copperware single-flower vase, Shōwa period, c. 1960s–80s. Patinated copper alloy with a rich dark reddish-brown surface, tall cylindrical neck, narrow mouth, and stepped circular base.
The original wooden storage box identifies the piece as a Kasen-gonomi old-bronze style single-flower vase (華泉好 古銅一輪插): a vessel in Kasen’s preferred taste, with an aged copper tone, made for one stem or a small focused arrangement.
Takaoka copperware comes from Takaoka in Toyama Prefecture, one of Japan’s long-standing metalwork centres.
