Japanese brass flower vase by Hasuda Shūgorō / 蓮田修吾郎, a major figure in post-war Japanese metalwork, Japan, late 20th century. The vase is signed on the base and comes with its original wooden storage box and printed artist leaflet. The box is inscribed 黄銅花入, meaning brass flower vase.
The vase is defined by a clean cylindrical form, fine horizontal incised lines, and a small side tab with a circular cut-out. The brass has a dark bronze-brown patinated surface, giving the piece a quiet, architectural presence.
The piece can be displayed as a Japanese artist metalwork object, or used as a single-stem flower vase.
