Context

Harjes Metallkunst was founded in 1912 in Germany and later developed under Michael Harjes, who introduced sculptural bronze casting into the workshop’s production. During the mid-20th century, the studio produced candleholders and domestic objects characterised by organic geometry and heavily textured surfaces associated with Brutalist decorative metalwork.
