Vintage Okinawan Dachibin Awamori Flask, Shōwa Period, Japan
Product Information
Vintage Okinawan dachibin (抱瓶), a ceramic carrying flask traditionally used for awamori, Okinawa’s distilled rice spirit. The flattened crescent-like body has a central filling opening and smaller side spout, with a dark glaze over the upper section and exposed warm clay below.
Its compact asymmetric form gives the vessel a strong sculptural profile, while the contrast between glaze and unglazed clay makes the construction particularly visible.
