Two-Arm Candleholder, hand-forged wrought iron, Europe, 1960s. Formed from solid iron bar with twisted stem, scroll arms, and shaped drip pans, finished in a traditional fire-darkened blacksmith surface. The underside bears the stamp “A.K.C.”, consistent with mid-century workshop marking practices.
Context

Hand-forged decorative ironwork remained widely produced in Germany and across Central Europe through the mid-20th century, drawing on Arts & Crafts revival and regional blacksmith traditions. The sculpted leaves, curled arms, and twisted shaft demonstrate heated forging and manual assembly rather than casting. The frontal silhouette — arched feet supporting raised arms — gives the piece a subtle frog-like stance while retaining functional balance.
